Go to my LNZ breakdown chunks

for some very useful information on the LNZ files which make up the core of your new Oddballz breed. Helps in understanding it all. Really. No, really. Do go and see. It might stop you from writing to me to pick my brains; most of my brain-pickings are there :-)

Extra fun for your Oddballz gaming! Edit, swap, be zany, and share!

Oddballz Demo-foolers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are only able to find the demo version of the game, here's a little game-fooler to help you edit it also and enjoy the game more. There is now a fooler available for Mac users as well as for Windows.
Easy kits for the original Oddballz breedz
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

These are packaged for Windows users. Mac users, I cannot supply Easy Kits for you, but of course you can download filmstrips and LNZ files that have been changed and can insert them into your own game files using ResEdit. Sorry, I cannot give any more details or separate files for Mac users.

Download either the the "Ptzfiles Lnz zip" and "Easy main breed kit" or the "Oddballz Easy kit for making new-look shelf and toyz", and as many of the breedfile Easy kits as you wish. Install them as per the instructions.

Important note for editors: when editing the .lnz files, remember always to leave a completely blank line at the end of the whole .LNZ inside -- just what you get when you press "enter", no spaces or code. Take a look at the end of the lnz files in my zips in Notepad, and you'll see what I mean.

A suggestion: make a copy of your Oddballz.xxx folder (where xxx is probably the first 3 letters of your name). Name this copy Oddballz.fun and install all the stuff that you download from this page into it. You can then overwrite the existing files and not worry about losing anything.

Download either the the "Ptzfiles Lnz zip", "Easy main breed kit", and "Pig and Chicken kit" or the "Oddballz Easy Shelf kit", and as many of the breedfile Easy kits as you wish. Install them as per the instructions.
Easy main breed kit
Ptzfiles Lnz zip
Pig and Chicken kit
Unpack the Ptzfiles Lnz zip into the main Oddballz directory -- Oddballz.fun if you followed my suggestion above.
Remember, you don't need or want the above files if you already have the
Oddballz Easy Shelf kit!

Now you need the individual breedz:
102
Dynaroo
Grinnz
Honker
Jester
Lips
Modvark
Norvil
Quadrapus
Skorch
Snowbo
Walret
Zott

As the readme files say, you can edit the .LNZ files in Notepad and the FLH/FLM files in Tinker 1.5 or greater
The Readme files for the breedz also mention alternative files:
Download them here.
These "alternative" files give you the fullest possible flexibility in your game. Install the Easy Kits first, and then follow the instructions included in this zipfile.

A new look for your Oddballz game
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To make your own customised look to your game, you need
my Oddballz Easy kit for making new-look shelf and toyz
And now here's my rough example for you:
My Egyptian-style toyshelf
Obviously it's not complete, LOL -- but I thought you'd like to see that it is possible to customise the look of your game. One day I might finish it...
But meanwhile you can have a ball customising your own game's shelf/toyz and sharing the resulting filmstrips with other Easy kit users, either with Tinker 1.5 or greater
or the old way, by hand, using these
Oddballz Easy prepared FLM files
You can also share your own edited grubz etc with others, simply by editing the relevant .LNZ files in Notepad. Look here for some mice that Joshua made, also some that I made.
A little tip for people who want to have the brain-sliders in their Oddballz game, to help keep their pet in tip-top condition: Open the Oddballz.ini file that's in your game's main directory into Notepad.exe. Find [ODDBALLZ] and below that enter a new line which reads like this:
Show Slider Brain=1
and save. If you want to turn the brain-slider off any time, simply change that 1 to a 0.
Much Older tutorials. Ones with hair on them.
I do intend to update these, really I do. One fine day. But meanwhile you've got Jonathan's Eggz scrambler, my Easy packages, my LNZ breakdown chunks, and Nicholas' Tinker :-)
