Bred Petz Standards

This is the page to be for anyone who isn't sure wether their dog is a tamsin, or what markings a gypsy should have. It focuses on popular breeds, because I hope to clear up general confusion, rather than introduce new breeds. All the descriptions are quoted directly from the person who originally came up with the standards, so you can expect this to be a reliable source. With special thanks to Finn @ Virgin, Aidan @ Smuggle, Luli and Kizmet, who let me use pictures of their petz!

White Patchwork or Patchwork
by Hannikat

Patchworks originally had to be white, but nowadays, any colour is accepted - as long as they are bicolor with the required markings being the only visible ones. Patchworks are also commonly known as gypsies, but I prefer using the original term as coined by Hannikat.

Face: Calico
Body: Calico
Personality: Calico
Body colour: white
Markings colour: any acceptable
Ears: same colour as body, marking optional
Eyelids: black or white
Eye Colour: any acceptable
Markings: jowl, ankle and tail patch of the same colour on either side of the body, ear patches are optional
Other markings: no other visible markings

Black Patchwork or Patchwork
by Hannikat

The black patchwork is a lot like the white patchwork, except that its body is black and it also has a chest patch and face streak. These are always white and don't have to match with the other markings, which means a black patchwork can be a tricolour. Again, just like the white patchwork, the "black" in black patchwork has been forgotten and any colour cat with the right markings will be considered a patchwork.

Face: Calico
Body: Calico
Personality: Calico
Body colour: black
Markings colour: any acceptable
Ears: same colour as body, marking optional
Eyelids: black
Eye colour: any acceptable
Markings: jowl, ankle and tail patch of the same colour on either side of the body, ear patches are optional, B&W Shorthair chest- and face patch

Meezer Pointed Calico (MPC) or pointed calico mixies
by Tiffany @ Sprocket

The meezer-pointed calico is another common, highly variable type of pet. Basically speaking, they are poof-tailed calicos with siamese markings, but there are a few other possibilities. Note that the siamese muzzle consists of only the to top jowls, and doesn't cover the chin.

Face: Calico
Body: entirely Calico
Markings: all Siamese points (from tail6 to tail4), must all the be the same colour, chest patch and face streak accepted
Tail: Maine Coon preferred, Calico accepted
Eyes: any colour

Exotics or Exotic Shorthairs

An exotic is, simply put, a persian with a slim body. Calico body parts are preferred.

Body: Calico preferred, similar accepted
Legs and feet: Calico preferred, similar accepted
Tail: Calico preferred, any accepted
Personality: any
Colours and markings: any
Ears: any
