Textured Eyes Tutorial

Looking to use some eye textures, like the ones on my Eye Contactz page? This tutorial should be able to help!

To start out with, this requires Prism's PetzA Update to work, since that allows irises to be textured and helps them move around like real eyes. If you can't/don't want to use the update, you can use Lida's No Texture Rotate Eyes Tutorial! Go to Resource -> Tutorials for that.

Take note: Textured eyes using Lida's tutorial won't move around like regular eyes, since that method textures the eyeball itself instead of the iris.

Step 1

Put your eye texture in LNZ. For this tutorial, I'm hexing on a pet, but this is possible with breedfiles just the same.

If your eye texture is not offset, put 0 32 32, or whatever dimensions your eye texture is. If the texture is offset, you can leave it as 0 256 256.
(Offset means the eye itself is divided into four corners on the texture)

Step 2

In [No Texture Rotate], put the iris numbers. If you don't have this section, simply put it in the LNZ.

Your iris numbers depend on if it's a cat or a dog: For dogz this is 14 38, and for catz it's 27 28.

Step 3

Find the iris balls and change the texture to your eye texture, and make sure it has texturable colours.

Step 4

In Petz, open up LNZ settings and check off "Enable textured irises".

Your pet should have shiny new eyes now!

If the entire eye texture isn't showing properly, the iris may be too small. This is an easy fix, all you need to do is increase the sizeDif column enough for the whole eye to show, which is the 6th column.

I hope this tutorial can help bring some lovely new contactz to petz! Big thanks to Aleisha for their tutorial on Milk that explained how to do this for Babyz, I just wanted to create a public tutorial that could go along with my textures.
