Silver of Silver's Petz, now long gone, had a chart also which was very nicely presented although incomplete, which spurred me on to try and make one for myself and include the remaining colours of the 256. 0 black 1 dark Red 2 dark Green 3 dark Yellow (this is really more like an olive green) 4 dark Blue 5 dark Magenta 6 dark Cyan (teal?) 7 dark Grey 8 light Grey 9 Red 10-19 pale greys (higher numbers darker) 20-29 greys (higher numbers darker) 30-39 blacks 40-49 fawny browns (higher numbers darker) 50-59 dark reddish browns (higher numbers darker -- 59 almost black) 60-69 mid browns (60-63 with hint of orange) (higher numbers darker) 70-79 pinks (higher numbers darker) 80-89 reds (higher numbers darker) 90-99 dark browns (greenish) (higher numbers darker -- 97-99 almost black) 100-109 brown-greens (higher numbers darker) 110-119 grey-blues; 110-113 steel blues (higher numbers darker) 120-129 earthy green-browns (higher numbers darker) 130-139 greens (higher numbers darker) 140-149 blues (higher numbers darker) 150-159 pale blues (higher numbers darker) 160-169 yellows (higher numbers darker; 167-169 green-yellows) 170 white 171 pale turquoisey blue 172-179 pale blues and blue-greys 180-187 earthy pinks and reds (higher numbers darker) 188-189 dark reds (almost black) 190-198 greens and blue/greens (higher numbers darker -- 197-198 almost black) 199 white 200 white 201 very pale yellow 202 very pale pink-brown 203 dark green 204 very pale green 205 pale grey-green 206 orange-yellow 207 greyer pale grey-green 208 darker pale grey-green 209 greyish mauve 210 mauve-er greyish mauve 211-212 darker oranges 213 orangey red 214 olive/earth green 215 green-brown 216 purplish slate grey 217 green 218 bright green 219 brown 220 bright red 221-222 browns 223 mauvey red 224-225 purple-blues 226-227 dark blue-greys 228 dark brown 229 royal blue 230-231 greys 232 white 233-234 black 235 chocolate brown 236 white 237-238 pale greys 240 royal blue 241 white 242 pale grey 243 royal blue 244 black 245 white 246 dark blue-grey 247 black 248 dark grey 249 bright red 250 lime green 251 yellow 252 bright blue 233 bright pinky-purple 254 bright pale blue 255 white When you're trying out colours, it's best to switch the texture to "off" in the ball you're using (i.e.set its number in the Texture column to -1), or you may not see the colour properly. You can experiment with a mixture of bitmaps and ball-colours to get the effect you want, of course. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS ================ I want to say a big "thank you" to Birgit of the PetzGallery for her encouragement and ideas, especially while I was struggling with the sound files in Petz 3 and just about ready to give up. It was really thanks to her that I got my horse to have such full adult sounds. I'd also like to thank Anso who was the first to showcase my breeds and who has been so very enthusiastic about them and full of new ideas. And to Abby of Petzwarehouse, who spurred me on to gather all my notes together at last into an (I hope) coherent tutorial... and who continued to encourage me, even hosting my growing site, while I threw together all sorts of tutorials, "howto"s and game- fixes. Bless you for your patience and help! ++++++++++++end of tutorial Enjoy! Carolyn Horn
